If you’re struggling with getting the results you want it’s likely because you don’t know how to achieve your goals.  You might have some awesome goals in the back of your mind but with a busy schedule you’re finding them difficult to execute.

We’ve all been there..

It sucks!

So if you’re wondering how to put your goals in place and really achieve them this time around then keep reading!

So here’s what I have done and what you can do too..

Make it Specific.

Specifying what exactly it is you want to achieve in the end allows you to focus on the specific way to get there.

For instance, maybe you’re goal is to lose 5 pounds through exercising so you are at a healthy weight for your body composition and age. Perfect! Thats a great goal! But to get there that may require a bit of cardio, so instead of your goal being “to lose 5 pounds” make your goal “implement more cardio into my regime so I can ultimately lose 5 pounds.”

The more specific a goal the easier it is to get there.

Plan Ahead.

If you’re a frequent visitor you know I’m all about planning.

Plan your workouts, your food, what time you work, have class, even what time you’re going to socialize this week.  Planning daily or weekly has allowed me to accomplish my goals in small steps that are noticeable and therefore rewarding.

That brings me to my next point.

Reward Yourself.

This is something some of us don’t do enough and really should start doing more often.

You’re reward will keep you motivated for achievement. Maybe your goal is to eat less processed food but you absolutely love french fries or dads cookies (you’re not alone, I love them too!). In this case your reward might be to eat a primarily unprocessed diet for most of the week but allow yourself one meal of the week to indulge.

A reward can be anything you want, new clothing, a spa day, a day off of from the gym. It’s up to you to pick something you want bad enough you’re willing to stick to your specific goal for it! The options are endless.

Find your motivation.

This is one that a lot of people struggle with, myself included. I find it helpful to think of long term results for motivation.

Right now you could be focusing on just living a balanced lifestyle in which you regularly go to the gym, eat well and spend lots of time with friends and family. Your motivation could be so you live a long healthy life that allows lots of time for people close to you, your future family, etc.

Push Through & Remain Optimistic.

Life happens. Some days aren’t as good as others and that’s something we have to accept.

There are a plethora of unfortunate events we have no control over in life but we all have to realize life is also full of opportunity and choice.  Everyday we are fortunate enough to wake up and be thankful for the good health we do have so we must choose to improve ourselves (even when we feel like the world is against us).

You might not see the results you want right away but I assure you.. If you stick with it, push through and believe that eventually you will achieve your goals and aspirations you will get there!
