Are you tired of your same old routine? Feeling no motivation to eat healthy? Or, have you reached a plateau in the gym?

These are all questions to ask yourself when you start feeling less driven to transform your life.  Questions for when you are not content with your current position in life. You’re probably wonder how to get out of this little rut you are in, and I have some answers for you!  The answer is the reset your MIND. & BODY.

But first…

Why is a reset for your mind and body important?

Mind – When you’re in a rut you are most definitely in a negative headspace (otherwise you wouldn’t think of it as a rut, am’i right?).  Detoxifying the mind and harnessing positive thoughts will catalyze your body to move out of the negative stage you are in.

Body – You’re body is your one true home, treating it right is important! With that said, sometimes your body can frustrate you. Examples of this would be when you aren’t seeing progress in the gym, or you’re immune system is not working optimally.  For good reason your body adjusts to whatever you are doing to it, and it remains in that position until you change something.  A reset of the body will improve your overall health and help with self-esteem.

Are you curious of some ways to reset?

1. Nutrition

I know you probably didn’t want to hear this one.  I also know that I preach nutrition like a mad woman but, there is good reason for doing so.  Our bodies function off of food, without it we would not survive. Plain and simple. High nutrient food is what our bodies thrive off.  The scoop on vitamins and minerals is true, we do need them, so getting them from real whole food sources keep your body happy.

Here is what I mean by nutrition to help you reset..

  • Lemon Water

Try drinking some lemon water.  It is a refreshing drink that can be made hot or cold.  I start every morning off with a large glass of lemon water and have noticed significant improvements in my digestion.  It is also a great way to wake you up in the morning.

  • Cut out the processed foods

This might be contradictory for the bodybuilding world as so many people follow IIFYM eating, but in my opinion cutting out processed foods is essential to a reset, especially if you are currently eating a highly processed diet.  Food like these contribute to you feeling lethargic, which is no good when you are wanting to be productive.

  • Eat your fruits and Veggies kids

This obviously goes with the last point and it is critical.  Swap those chips of some crunchy carrots and dip and you will feel so much better.  You’re body will digest fruits and veggies better than it will processed food because there isn’t foreign material for your gut to break down.

2. Fitness

If you are an avid gym junkie or someone who doesn’t workout at all this still applies to you!  Getting blood flowing is what is important.  It doesn’t matter what type of fitness regime you follow.. just get moving.

Try changing up your routine if you’re a regular at the gym.  If you only lift weights, try doing some long distance cardio, watch your favourite show on Netflix while you go for a 45 minute steady state walk.  Perhaps, your progress is stalled because your muscles have adapted to your ways.  Try shocking your muscles with some H.I.T.T!  FitnessRX has a good workout designed to shock your body, you can find it here.

Changing up your fitness routine is a great way to reset both your body and mind!

You might be someone who is just looking to reset in general but you aren’t a regular at the gym.  Fitness is still a great solution when you need to reset!  Fitness is any form of physical activity, so it is up to you to choose what you enjoy most.  This could be as simple as going for a bike ride a couple evenings out of the week.  When your body isn’t use to physical activity incorporating some type of fitness routine into your life completely resets your body!

Benefits of exercise

-Improves your mood

-Decreases chance of disease

-Increases your energy levels

3. Incorporate Meditation

Probably one of the most talked about ways to reset your mind is through mediation.  Meditation does not have to be you sitting on the floor, cross legged, saying ooommm.  Mediation includes just sitting in peace and letting go of everything weighing you down in the moment.

Meditation is something I want to start incorporating into my routine each morning.  I am slowly improving but still prefer guided meditation; headspace is a great app for keeping me on the right track.

4. Help yo’self out

Most of us fail to engage in self-care because we feel as though it is selfish or a waste of time.  However, it is far from being selfish or a waste of time.  Actually, it is a great way to spend your time and wanting to improve yourself is not selfish!  Don’t skip this part of your reset plan because it is crucial to success.  Ultimately, self-care will help you refocus your attention on what you truly want.  It can help reduce stress and anxiety.  Also, pampering yourself is always nice!

5. Re-organize

When you declutter your environment and organize the physical items around you, your mind will become more organized.  When I feel like I’m in a rut I have the urge to change things around me, perhaps, it is part of changing my negative thoughts to more positive thoughts.  One way I do this is by re-organizing my closet.  There is something extremely satisfying about pulling out the clothes you don’t wear anymore and donating them. Your mind will thanks you, and so will someone else for the new clothes.

 6. Get the Proper amount of Sleep

There is no better way to rejuvenate your mind and body than with adequate sleep.  At night your body physically rejuvenates itself.  When you wake up you will feel refreshed, and have a more positive mindset.

Sometimes we just have to reset out mind and body to stay happy with where we are at.   Try these tips and let me know how it goes for you!
